Alternative medicines have been around for thousands of years. They have been commonly applied in the human field, but it is still considered somewhat “taboo” in the veterinary field. At Gilbert Queen Creek Emergency Veterinarian & Pet Urgent Care, we believe in using a combination of Eastern and Western medicine when able. We believe the combination can assist in treating many of the common conditions we see, and our patients achieve the best healing processes when these combinations are used. We offer other alternative therapies such as:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, also known as HBOT, has been shown to treat and prevent progression of many diseases, including:

  • Wound Healing & Dog Bite Wounds
  • Herniated Disks
  • IVDD
  • Trouble Walking
  • Arthritis
  • Pancreatitis
  • Trauma
  • Infection
  • Valley Fever
  • Smoke Inhalation
  • Burns
  • Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Alternative Pet Medicine

Ozone therapy in veterinary patient care is an alternative therapy offered here at GQ Vet that may help in healing of many ailments.

Wherever we have inflammation, increasing the level of oxygen in that area with ozone therapy would benefit in healing of the tissues. Ozone is anti-inflammatory, and also has disinfectant properties using higher oxygen levels instead of harsh chemicals that kill most bacteria at low concentrations. Ozone is an affordable anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory, and we currently can use ozone therapy for the following treatments and more:

  • Oral flush for managing bacteria in mouths or after dental cleanings
  • Wound Management
  • Cystitis: Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections, and Blocked Cats, etc.
  • Osteoarthritis
  • CCL tears
  • IVDD – Intervertebral Disc Disease
  • Abdominal surgery
  • Neoplasia
  • Parvo
  • Tick borne disease
  • Chronic kidney disease

Holistic/Herbal medicines are known to support the body systems through disease processes or illness and can also help to reduce side effects from common medications. Some of the medications we commonly use include:

  • Yunnan Baiyao – Supports and assists in the stopping of bleeding
  • Hepagen-C and Hepatic Support – Supplements which help protect, support and improve liver function
  • Renal Support – Supplement which helps support and improve kidney function
  • Paxon – Supplement of concentrated cranberry extract which helps support and improve bladder health
