Laura was born in Lincoln, NE and raised in Sioux City, IA. After graduating from Sioux City North High School, she attended several different colleges, declaring a multitude of majors, before moving to Sioux Falls, SD to attend Globe University, where she received her AAS in Veterinary Technology in 2015. Laura first realized she wanted to do emergency medicine during tech school, when her neighboring apartment building caught fire, and she rushed to the scene to help the pets that were being brought out. After graduation, she completed an externship at the only ER in a 150 mile radius of Sioux Falls, SD, where she accepted a job and worked for 2 years. In 2017, on a whim, she packed her bags and moved to the Phoenix area, having never been to the desert before. She spent 2 years at a small general practice in Mesa, AZ, but her true passion for emergency care, led her back to the ER setting. When Laura isn’t working, she is probably busy with school. She is back in college taking prerequisites to get into vet school! In the off chance she’s not working or doing schoolwork, you’ll likely find her in the kitchen, cooking a delicious meal, or baking scrumptious treats. Laura has 6 “kids”. She has 3 cats: Baykey, Omelette, and Chickpea, and 3 dogs: Mimi (a corgi), Hattie (a pug), and Noodle (a dachshund). Although she loves each and every one of her babies, her corgi, Mimi, is the absolute pride and joy of her life. Laura is excited to continue her journey in veterinary medicine and is passionate about becoming an emergency veterinarian!
