Welcoming a new puppy is an exciting experience, but it also comes with important health decisions early on. While GQ Veterinary Emergency & Specialty focuses on walk-in urgent care, emergency medicine, and specialty services, we believe preventive care like vaccinations plays a critical role in keeping puppies healthy long term.

Puppy Vaccination Planning for Families Visiting GQ Veterinary Emergency & Specialty

That is why we work closely with trusted local partners to help families access routine puppy vaccinations nearby.

Why Puppy Vaccinations Matter

Puppies are born with developing immune systems, which makes them more vulnerable to contagious and potentially serious diseases. Vaccines help prepare a puppy’s immune system to recognize and fight illness before exposure occurs. Following a timely vaccination schedule helps reduce the risk of preventable disease and supports overall community health.

Even for families who primarily visit GQ Vet for urgent or specialty care, staying current on vaccinations is an important part of responsible pet ownership.

Core Vaccines Every Puppy Needs

Most puppies require a series of core vaccines during their first few months of life. These vaccines protect against widespread and potentially life threatening diseases.

DHPP Vaccine
Protects against distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus (canine hepatitis), and parainfluenza. These illnesses spread easily and can be severe in young puppies.

Rabies Vaccine
Required by Arizona law, rabies vaccination protects pets, people, and wildlife from a fatal virus that affects the nervous system.

Leptospirosis
A bacterial infection spread through contaminated water and wildlife urine. It can affect both pets and humans and is commonly recommended based on regional risk.

Where to Get Puppy Vaccinations Near GQ Vet

Because GQ Veterinary Emergency & Specialty does not offer routine vaccinations, we refer families to Queen Creek Veterinary Clinic for preventive puppy care.

Queen Creek Veterinary Clinic is located just a few miles away in Queen Creek and offers comprehensive wellness services, including puppy vaccination schedules, exams, and ongoing preventive care. Their team can help ensure your puppy stays on track with core and lifestyle vaccines.

This close proximity makes it easy for pet parents to combine routine wellness care with access to advanced emergency and specialty services when needed.

Typical Puppy Vaccination Timeline

While every puppy receives a personalized plan, most follow a schedule similar to the one below through their primary care veterinarian:

6 to 8 weeks
First DHPP vaccine
Lifestyle vaccines may be discussed based on exposure risk

10 to 12 weeks
DHPP booster
Additional recommended vaccines as needed

14 to 16 weeks
Final DHPP booster
Rabies vaccine
Completion of any remaining recommended vaccines

Completing the full series before increased social exposure is important for safe development.

Ongoing Care and Emergency Support

After completing the puppy vaccine series, dogs transition into adult booster schedules managed by their primary care veterinarian. For urgent medical needs, emergencies, or specialty referrals, GQ Veterinary Emergency & Specialty is here to provide advanced diagnostics, treatment, and compassionate care when it matters most.

Last night I had to do the unthinkable and say goodbye to my best friend in the world, Sophia. Dr. Hodges was absolutely wonderful every step of the way, and the whole team made the experience as comfortable and calm as it could be. Everyone was attentive and kind, and while I hated having to be there (because I was losing my soul dog), I could not have asked for better care in an emergency. Being that I worked in veterinary medicine for over 5 years in many different roles, I am VERY picky about who sees my babies and how my pets are treated. The team here did not disappoint in the least. Though I'm absolutely heartbroken losing my sweet baby, I'm so comfortable knowing she was well taken care of in her last moments. ❤️

I want to thank the team at GC Emergency for their extremely professional and compassionate care and for everything you did for Shadow. The empathy we received at this office is unmatched.

The caring Physicians were very comforting and their primary interest was aligned with mine in doing what was best for my cat. They were very assuring that there were no wrong choices, and that Everything I did to save her was the right thing, and that when it was time to let her go, that was also the right thing to do.

This office was extremely compassionate and did their best to give my cat the best guilt-free help available.

I HIGHLY recommend this office for any furry family member in distress. Bless you all, and thank you so much for everything.

Had to unfortunately visit this ER more times than desired over the past few months. However, the staff made all the difference. In particular Dr. Megan Tommet, MVP in my eyes. She had the best bedside manner and displayed professionalism, expertise and empathy while treating my two elderly pets, Zeke and Zena. Unfortunately, Zeke the boxer had to be euthanized and the entire team made an awful event just a little bit better by their authentic display of compassion and understanding through the process. This was top tier care, in my opinion and I recommend this practice without reservation. Far too many wonderful staff members to mention by name but kudos to the entire team for performing well in very difficult circumstances. I'll be forever grateful. In closing I'll mention Stephanie one of the practice administrators - she was so kind and understanding of the health issues facing my pups. Kindness goes a long way and I felt that every visit from intake to discharge. In a strange way, I feel part of the GQ family and would strongly consider them for primary care, if offered.
